I am going, with the family on holiday in June, to Brean Sands Holiday Park. It has a fishing lake on the park. Has anyone been fishing here, if so what species should I try and target.
Also are there any free or day ticket waters close by.
Thanx in advance.

I live in burnham on sea, about 5 miles from brean. I believe the lake at brean sands is a bit of a "hole in the ground" affair, ok if you like that sort of thing, however within 20/30 minutes drive you have:

1. River Axe, Bleadon. good roach/bream

2. Apex lake,Highbridge.Bream/roach/carp

3 Walrow ponds,Highbridge, same as apex

4. Cheddar reservoir. outstanding tench

5.River brue. some cracking roach on hemp/caster

6. river Huntspill Bream/roach

7. kings sedgemoor drain tench/bream roach

I could go on, but your best bet is to head for thyers tackle (veals) right on the main A38 in highbridge. They'll put you right and sort out tickets, bait etc. In truth there are loads of waters around here. I've lived here all my life(35 years and still not fished them all! Have a good holiday Richard.

p.s flaming joes in brean does a cracking steak and the seagull is a good place for a few beers, kid-friendly too.

Cheers, JC
