I'm using Pro Gold at the moment, and have done for several years, but the reviews of GT80 were interesting. Has anybody else got anything to add on GT80?

I also have used Pro Gold for several years,is it causing you problems?
If not, and it does what you need it too do, why change?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Yes, Frothey, I did look HERE, but that review only tells you what GT80 is like, it DOESN'T compare it with other lines, hence my post!

Fred, no Pro Gold hasn't caused me any problems, but it is prone to line twist, which according to the review, GT80 doesn't seem to be........

what lines are you comparing it to then, there are a couple out there...

get hold of a copy of the tackle box catalogue, they list the stated/actual breaking strains, diameters and abrasion resistance for most of the "specialist" mono's out there.

Yep, I've got the Tackle box catalogue, I think the dark green GT80 has a slightly higher breaking strain than the light green, but there isn't much in it, about 0.75lb. I read something on the RMC Angling site that the stretch of GT80 is about 13%, whereas Pro Gold's is 22%, quite a difference. Has relavance if you don't like braid for bait work....

Just out for an opinion, that's all...

if you have a look around some of the other sites, most seem to prefer (gardener)gr60 gto gt80 - unless fishing at long range. sink rate on gt80 lower, and seemingly not as abrasion resistant.

Can you still get GR60, I thought it had been discontinued when GT80 came out?
