Hi All. I am after a new tackle box for coarse fishing, that will take packet?s hook?s, swim feeders, reels of line and all bits and pieces that you end up with, been to a few shops but nothing seems right, anybody bought one that they are pleased with. Pete

Try B&Q (or some other hardware shop) and have a look at the tool box section. I use one for my pike lures, traces etc... it fits the bill nicely.

Hope this helps Pete:))

B?Q fishing tackle box, blue styrene main body transparent lid with handle, secondary lift up hinged lid 2 internal slot in accessories boxes( it can take 4, but these are available to buy seperately. Lot`s of compartment`s and storage for the dosh ?19.99. Have seen these boxes on sale in the States, grab one here while you can much better than a cheap toolbox or an over priced branded tackle manufacturers box, failing that Maplins the electronic store have a twin pack of the large size Stanley proffessional organizer boxes on offer 2 for ?9.99. usual price ?29.99 well worth the money. Hope this is of some help!!

Roy, your quote from the Lidl thread.........Supermarket fishing tackle? do me a favour! Nearly all of it`s a waste of time and money. Support your local tackle dealer! If you have a dealer who is mindful of the fact that you are the customer who puts money in his till to make his business run then continue to shop there, he`s the specialist and he and his like will still be there...........etc?

B&Q, maplins...... looks like your local tackle dealer aint safe afterall.....??

I have several old Stewart boxes which were excellent - built like tanks - but sadly they are no longer made. The Fox boxes are the best thing and have the advantage that the inner compartments can be (more or less) infinitely varied to suit whatever you wish to put in it. They are not expensive either.

I think old Cliff Fox does some excellent boxes I have them in all sizes and shapes, plus the smaller boxes which go inside the larger ones, I even have the fly boxes, all excellent stuff, well done Foxy, a vast improvement from those crap, bedchairs in the early days that used to bend all over the place

Paul, The Anglers Den at Pevensey Bay and The Hastings Angling Centre get 99% of my business,Oh! sorry I forgot to mention S.H. Tackle in Bohemia St Leonards-on-sea,i give him a few quid whenever I drop in there. The suppliers I mentioned are offering good quality boxes at a good price,I don`t see that making someone aware of the fact that they can have a choice of places to buy from is wrong. It was a reference to a particular item that the man requested advising about, he can go and have a look if he wants to then he make his own mind up.I think when he does you won`t hear the Barnsley war cry! Freedom of choice mate, people are dying for it! (ask Des Browne) I`m glad we`ve got it! Gotta go Paul I`m off to ALDI in Bexhill, they do a nice line in sweetcorn 28p a tin, don`t think Sanjay in our corner shop will lose any sleep if I do!,his is over a pound twenty a tin. Keep taking the tablets! Regards Roy!

Yes, my point being, that we all buy a few bits from elsewhere, including select bits from supermarkets, when they do a line in tackle. Nothing wrong with that. Freedom of choice?

Yet your Aldi comment/rant seems a little in conflict to what you are suggesting here.

And there was me thinking you were expressing concern that my local tackle dealer was in danger of getting into financial difficulties due to me buying some boxes from B&Q and Maplins.Quote:-(looks like your local tackle dealer "ain`t safe after all"). Well paul, firstly I did state that most, not all Aldi tackle was a waste of time and money and secondly unless I`m very much mistaken I don`t think that Maplins or B&Q sell dendro`s,boilies or pints of casters let alone terminal tackle, rods ,reels etc,I don`t know about where you reside but I can assure you that they don`t sell `em here in Hastings.Same as when I want some paint, wallpaper or a drill I don`t go into Steves Tackle along Whiterock because I know he don`t sell em! With reference to my comment about Aldi/Lidl I CHOOSE to buy five tins of sweetcorn for the same price I have to pay for one tin at my local 7/11, after all it`s my money i`m not under contract to spend it in a particular place! Finally I was a little confused about the last comment in your post Re: yourAldi comment/rant,now me being an uneducated inarticulate manual worker I had a look at the word rant in the Collins English Dictionary page 1278. Sorry if my post came across to you as "quote Collins page1278,RANT- to utter something in a loud violent or bombastic manner! I must apologize for that it really was out of character, and there was me thinking I was having a healthy intelligent discussion and exchange of veiws, still one can only do ones best! To have choice is to have freedom. Keep taking the tablets! regards RLM.

Cricky, me take the tablets?

I'm not sure what you are getting so worked up about Roy. I'm not having a pop at you, just pointing out that you advise we use our local tackle dealer and not supermarkets, in one post and then a big diy chain ahead of the local tackle dealer in another. That's all.

Quite where sweetcorn or dendra's come into it, i've no idea.

Buy whatever you want from where ever you like. I'm not the one making a judgement on any gear these shops sell.

Most of the Lidl stuff may have been dross. But the thread was largely about the starlights, which work fine and were very cheap. In fact I'll be getting some more, next time they do them.

No one was suggesting we turn to Lidl for most of our tackle needs, just as you aren't with B&Q. You recommended that we should support our local dealer and shun the Lidl stuff. But, there's nothing wrong with picking out the better bits for a bargain (as you later suggest at B&Q).
