Trouble with me Bob is that I keep most of them rather than selling them on as I progress LOL. I don't think i've got anything like the number you have, if I remember rightly you've gone berserka ! I think I have 23 in my cabinet now and I love em all :w::D :w

tigger,

You have to remember how Old I am ?

I started collecting Pins when I was at School and I left school 51 years ago !!

I have two MC, the first time I tried a MC the spring and ratchet fell out and disappeared into the Lea ?

They replaced it and the Ratchet knob on the back fell off ?

Good cheap s/h is a better option I reckon ?

Thanks for all the replies guys

Didn't mean to start a war

Anyway, I ended up going for the TF-Gear one this is on offer at the moment £50 and it should do me fine, I don't do much fishing that demands the use of a pin but always wanted one. Yes a nice £200 plus Youngs would have been nice but on my income its never going to happen, so one that I can use is better than one I could never own, right.

As for the Resale Value, mine cost £49, they are selling on e-bay for £130, I could sell it and make a profit if I dont like it, but I am sure I will.

Thanks

Paul

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Next post "which bite alarm for barbel fishing?" or "40lb braid with a 5lb TC Spod rod for barbel?".;):D

What they are listed for and what they actually sell for are two different things.;)

I have watched a few and every one has sold for the £130 ish price they where listed at.

Don't forget some places sell them at the RRPrice which is over £200 and they have sold them at that price.

Not saying I am getting a £200 reel for £50, I am not that daft, I know its not going to be much different to the MM reel that sells for £30 to £40 but unlike the various £30 reels it does not look like its the same reel with a different name on it, from the pictures I have seen it is a very different reel.

Still only time will tell and as I don't get to do much fishing these days, I probably only get to go 20 times a year I suspect it will last me a liftime.

I suspect what you are talking about is the newer TF Gear Classic Centrepin.
It is quite different to its predecessor the TF Gear X-Pin which was just the same as the Marco Cortesi and Ikonix (follow the links in post four and you'll see).

Good luck to you, I hope you enjoy it, but I'd seriously advise you not to get your hopes up of making a profit on you purchase.

Its whatever the current model is.

I suspect it will be more than good enough for me and may never be used, but if I get the chance to long trot a float down a river, I know it will be as good as me, if not better.

I never buy anything with one eye on the later re-sale value

When I buy it its because I must have it, if at a later stage I decide to sell it then I accept that I sell it at the market value at the time I sell it. sometimes I win and some times I get what I ask for it, which I also class as winning.

Don't wish to rain on your parade Paul but there is no way it is the most current TFG model, no one is selling them off cheap yet, it is more likely the older model which is nigh the same as the original Cortesi or Ikonix, all very average pieces of scrap metal.

Too late now but as advised, an Okuma for a few extra quid would have seen you with a far better performing and reliable alternative; if you had kept an eye on ebay, the Aventa Pro for example can be picked up new or mint for between £50.00 and £60.00.

Pirate,
I was in Chapmans in Hull this afternoon. They were selling the TFG Classic for £50 or £60. Quite different in looks to the older X-Pin.

I won't know untill it arrives, but if its anything less than the one shown in their advert which is the same as the one shown on the TF_Gear Website they will be getting it back

This is the one clearly shown in the magazine advert

TF Gear Classic Centre Pin Reel - TFG Carp and Specialist Reels Total Fishing Gear

Which you will see is even now being sold by TF_Gear for £49.99 which is the same as the magazine is selling them for

Why would you think its not this one I am getting?

Some do, me for example, I have a history of buying things the week before a vary large price drop. I sometimes wonder if the Matrix was correct and we are are just subjects in a big computor game.

6 Months ago, the wife underwent Brain surgery

I have got to have major gastric surgery but I have been told the waiting list is over 2 years

2 Months ago I paid £800 to have the clutch and DMF changed in my Mondeo

2 Weeks ago I paid £1300 to an Engine fitted after the cam chain snapped

Now I am spending more as the Alternator has just died

So as far as I am conserned I am getting a £235 reel for £49, its a real Bargain and no one is going to tell me its not

Its about time I had some good news in my life.
