Hi Guys

I am thinking of getting an Avon Quiver tip rod

Obviously the first one that comes to mind is the John Wilson which depending on which version is either an 11 foot or a 11 & 13 foot.

I know this rood is probably a little long in the tooth as far as the blanks go so are there any other AQT rods out there of note and worth a look at.

TF-Gear do one in their all rounder but at 8 & 10 foot is a little on the short side, anyone using one of these.

Any other recomendations

Thanks

Paul

I wouldn't touch the John Wilson with a bargepole but I'm sure others will disagree!;):D

If your budget isn't boundless I'd probably be looking at the Drennan Series 7 If I were you.

Yeh they are poor in comparison to the Drennan, spend the wee bit extra and you won't be disappointed, the law of diminishing returns certainly doesn't apply in this instance.

Tiggs, the Browning is a nice rod for the money, still prefer the Drennan though.

Then Pirate.

I have the drennans myself and wouldn't argue against them :). I just noticed the browning and thought it looked good value for money so maybe worth considering.

Aye the Browning definately worth a consideration if on a tight budget Tiggs although you are like me mate, spend that wee bit extra for quite a bit more quality and fishability.

Also, am not saying this is too much an important factor but the Drennans have a far greater resale value should anyone decide to punt them on, used second hand prices of any Series 7 model is quite incredible.

Your right m8 :)

I've got my eye's open for a drennan super specialist in the 1.5lb test (the rods before the series 7).

I had a look at the Drennans but couldn't justify the cost (£99) to SWMBO and as she is the only wage earner in my house I have to give in to her, (Most of the time)

In the end I went with the Youngs version and to be honest its the best £50 I have spent, what a lovely rod and a top class case as well.

Its also rung for pin use as well which was a big seller as well.

Thanks

Paul
