Contact shakespeare (part of the K2 group) and they might be able to dig out a spool if not looks like you will have to buy a new reel

does anyone know what the -040 means on the end of the part number.

Spotted a 2280-070 on ebay? would the spool fit?

i wouldn't buy a new real just for the spool butit would widen the search??????

The -040 is the size of the reel, smaller number = smaller reel, 035's & 040's are common sizes for general coarse fishing with floats & small feeders. Normally, you can't mix the spools, not on the reels I've had anyway.

Just checked my box of old tackle, knew there were some shakespeare reels, I've got a 2280-035 Graphite Mk II with 2 spare spools, not used for 10 years + but seems ok, just a bit smaller than yours. You can have the reel and the spools for the cost of the postage.

That's got to be worth a try... hopefully the 035's will fit the 040?

Please call me on 07929 571383 with a postage cost to Leyland.

Thanks for the advice, help and the generous offer.

Nigel.
