garden snails

the carp and big orfe in my garden pond get a bonus feed of 10 to 15mm snails when its damp ,the first time i threw one in out curiosity i was astounded that the orfe fought over it, since then i feed them as i find them ....just been out and chucked 10 snails in all took on the drop orfe 6 carp 4 ,i am seriously thinking of trying them as bait over hemp

has anyone tried them as bait at all?

I have tried homeless snails (slugs) for chub, they also provoke a violent take.

Never thought of using snails. Loads in my garden, wife would love it if I removed them all from eating the plants.

Do you need to shell them? Could you hair rig them?

When the snail is in it's shell it would look like a boillie. How easy to drill or put hole in snail shell to hair rig?

slugs sometimes are taken but usually repel the carp

putting a hole in the shell ....never tried it but cant see a problem with a pin maybe.

I have a perch in my pond,it loves slugs....

My carp and orfe will take small slugs,but the perch is so fast they seldom get a look in..
