Flightliner....It may well be obvious, but how do you apply the super glue ? Not with your finger surely ??

I'm always a bit dubious of the stuff, so any tips welcome....

( I meant to say the J W Martin book referred to is ' My Fishing Days and Fishing Ways ' which has lots of history surrounding the Trent )

Binka.....Are you using a water or oil based varnish ? Interesting you believe the varnish will stay put.....I have both so I might try some, but in the past it hasn't worked although this many moons ago. Thinking about it, maybe it was the paint that didn't take...Mmmmmm

Top thread !

ps I agree on the wet & dry - top stuff for float making and a classy finish..

I think it's oil judging by the way I have to use white spirit instead of water to clean the brush, it's some that I already had from an odd job, Ronseal Outdoor.

Tee cee, I buy the five pack jobs from poundland, cut the end off to allow a tiny amount only to come out then after sanding the reed lightly simply squeese the glue onto the stem and at the same time use a to and fro-ing motion to spread the glue along and round it.
Any surplus forming drops can be shaken off easily.
It also strengthens the stem, lightly abrade then paint.
