Does anyone else have problems getting umbrella spikes in the ground? I have a wonderful umbrella my good wife brought me for a present. It had a spike (twisted) that I had to sharpen, but I still struggle (getting old I guess) . Apart from a mallet any ideas thoughts to help me? Thanks. Rich.

I have one of the brolly poles Sam has posted a link for . They're great making it easy to get the spike into the ground . Another plus is they don't bend

Another vote for the Gardner. It comes in different lengths and I think the 36" is best so you can screw it firmly into the ground . The pole has a hole through it and comes with a tommy bar so it can be quietly screwed in. It will not bend being solid aluminium and not cheap steel. I bought the 29" initially and found it a little short for muddy ground in windy conditions.

You won't find them advertised in Erectile Disfunction Monthly.

Nope. Even compacted gravel. Put a Powerdrive bankstick into the ground first and then the brolly pole into that.
