I took the line that I've not seen a bad word written about the Acolyte Ultra and so brought the 14' rod. I thought as the Trent is a big river, that extra foot may just help me at times. Plus a lot of swims are 8' to 11' deep.

Also, it should work well on the lakes and such. It's so stressful (but some fun) looking for that one rod. I had some good feedback from so many people about the various older models Daiwa made, all welcome. It would have been awful getting an old rod then finding it had some defect not mentioned. Also I got a cracking deal on the 14' model.

Thanks all I'll feedback promise. I've found out a little Shimano reel I've had for ages with a shallow spool, very light 2500 size. It will be ideal on the new rod, or I'll use the 300 CR10 from Cadence very light too. Best wishes Rich.

Rich.
