Why o why doesn't a major takle manufacture make a alloy landing net handle about 12 ft long, most carbon ones are little better than a stick of rhubarb, okay for carp puddles but not so clever on a river .

Ive had a Middy Rock ard handle for a couple of years now and its still alright Are you lifting the net straight up and they are breaking or are they snaping in the water.

No I have an alloy one but it's only about 7ft long ,that extra lenth would make a difference. Iv'e landed fish for other anglers using there carbon net handle and can see why they struggle

Korum specimen landing net and handle is a quality piece of kit, i own one and they are fantastic, very light with a 36'' net - they are not alloy tho, nor are they 12 feet long.

But they are very very good /forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif

I have adapted an old sea rod into a landing net handle, its about 10 ft long and solid. I have also taped some pipe lagging near the top with white gaffa tape, it helps the net float and I can pick it out very easily at night.

Mullet when I said make one I meant an extension to your existing handle.

I think 12 foot may be a bit difficult to hande. Also I do not like alloy handles. I use a Cono-flex handle which I find excellent. It is plenty long enough for all of the high bank swims I know as it is about 9 foot when fully extended and is very strong.

I use the heavy duty Cono-flex, probably the same spec as Dave's, itcost meabout £40.00 and is very strong. I have used it for about Four seasons and no complaints.

I've got a fox stalker, which is crap. Its supposed to have a twist and lock feature on the telescopic handle, shich just doesn't work, rendering it worse that useless. Anyone know how to fix it?

You could try a Powerstretch handle. I use one for river fishing. It's by no means light but it extends to a good length and is rigid and hardwearing. They are quite rare now but I think you can get them on ebay listed as the Keenets extending handle. There's also the Drennan Super Specialist Twistlock, quite expensive at £40.

My Cono-flex handle is no more after several years good service. The thread stripped out just before the end of the season so I have bought aDrennan Super Specialist Twistlock to replace it. It is much lighter and seems very nice. Rich in Ringwood Tackle swears by them and says they last well.

I have the keenets powerstretch as mentioned above, and it's brilliant. The locking system really works, it's very robust... not alloy so possibily heavier than you're looking for

My landingnets have to preform two tasks no 1 land fish no2 when I'm out on the mudflats I use it as my mobile bait and tackle stand I'm usally up to my ankles in mud and, prefere to beach my fish in the shallows .Repeated jamming into the mud alloy one okay not so sure about a carbon one.

Do pool nets have the same size and type of thread (3/8" BSF)?

Are they strong enough to land a fish - they are usually used for lifting a few leaves and the odd beatle.

Just an idea Matt. it looks like he is going to have to custom make one from extra tubing telescopic style.
