Let's remember there is far more to fishing that sitting on your arse . I am neither spring chicken nor especially fit , but winter grayling fishing can involve a couple of miles or more walking , wading , clambering up steep banks and so on. Lure fishing tends not to involve much , or any , wading , but longer walks are common . Even chubbing can involve along walk with much more gear , and fishing 7 or 8 swims.
And let's not get too bogged down in daft semantics either- we all know that 'exercise ' in the current context , just means doing stuff outside . And frankly , especially given the very low risk involved of being outdoors well away from other people , why does anyone think it is important to make a distinction between sweaty exercise and more gentle stuff? It really doesn't matter what you do outdoors, nor where , as long as you keep away from contact with others . This virus doesn't read the regulations, doesn't decide to target the lone angler or dogwalker 5 .5 miles from home and leave the ones 2.3 miles away alone , it doesn't bust its way into your car on the way to the river or hide itself in your tackle box - it can and does only spread by people getting too close to each other , and the risk rises massively indoors . It really is as simple as that .
