Feeder heavy bait

Hi.

When heavybaiting with a big feeder, do you clip the line at the same distance as you are fishing, or do you add more line? I'am fishing in two lakes with a depth of 3 and 5 meters..

Exactly the same distance. When I make my casts I after the feeder is on the way I pull the rod tip back overhead to hit the clip then drop rod to the rest.
This normally allows the feeder to fall in a straight line, not letting the feeder be pulled towards the bank after the cast.
Mind you I don't fish waters close to 5mtr deep, still, the same principle applies.
