Been thinking long and hard about selling it for some time now, it'll only sit gathering dust if I don't and it's too good for that.

Sorry Steve but it means I'll think about it. I've bought several rods and reels recently plus other things. It's a cracking rod and I know it will be as good as new.

Hate selling on the bay, I reckon with PayPal fees it will be the thick end of fifty quid in fees so i'll give it a couple of days on here before listing it

The Smuggler Avons do go for good money Skip, there's still one on the bay but at £400 with a bust zip I reckon it needs some adjustment on the price... In my experience people will pay top end but, quite rightly, expect minters in return and the overall condition of everything including the cordura tube plays a big part to many who are considering something so high end.
I reckon Alan's would get snapped up just as quickly, it's a very desirable and fairly rare beast in the two piece version which I took the big Barbel on earlier in the week and even rarer in the highly desirable smuggler version.
Had I only had the one I couldn't have parted with it but it's a lot of money to be sitting on the sub's bench and deserves to be used.

I put a 'buy it now' price Alan with the delivery incorporated into the price of the rod so the advert showed free delivery, I also checked 'no auction' and 'no offers'.
Turns out that the buyer is only eighteen miles away so I've arranged to have a leisurely run over there on Sunday morning and deliver it by hand, I feel much happier doing it that way too.
Someone's got a belting rod for sure, I've just been examining it and it could go straight on the shelf in a shop as brand spanking new

After Ebay & Paypal fees I've netted in at just over £303 clear which was about where I expected to be, just so you know what they'll be taking for their part in it all.

I noticed on completed listings, a specialist avon smuggler had gone for 200 quid! That was only very recently.
It still had the placcy on the handle and looked spot on in the pic's.
I think the seller must have just put it on as a buy it now for two hundred ripps and it was snapped up. I never even got to see it advertised as I would have bought it myself.

Wow that was cheap, I wonder if someone needed some cash desperately?
I see that the guy who's got the same rod I've just sold but listed at £400 has also got an XT version... Again at £400.
I can't understand that and can't see anyone paying £400 for an XT, as you know it is the budget version that Hardy introduced behind the Marksman range.
