I had this new baby reel delivered today. It is to go with my Shakespeare Wand (old edition) for delicate canal/bomb when the wind excludes a float or I want to be huddled under a brolly.
It being a Fladen is not up there amongst the big names but its robust, feels smooth, has a good clutch and instant reverse.
It comes with a spare spool for just under £27 delivered.
I will load one spool with 3lb bs

It looks like it might also be a good reel for using with a dropshot rod too John.

Yes I think that is what is marketed for. I do like my Shaky wand. I used to use it extensively before there was a danger of carp. A great bite getter for silvers in the winter.
I might load the spare spool with a line suitable for my dropshot rod. Thats a Drennan job and is light as a feather so it will be a good combo.

For some reason, Boyes are a decent source of Fladen gear. There are a few of their stores in your part of the world.
Yes a lot of Boyes stuff you wouldnt touch but some is OK.
Carp leads, the swivels are so weak they break upon casting I found out the hard way. You wouldnt chance their floats!
They do stainless steel bank sticks which are very good.
The NGT grounbait/method mix is good.
The Fladen pike wire with plastic coating comes with crimps and is first rate.
