Quiver tip questions

Just getting a custom rod built and they said something about nylon and carbon quiver tips. Presumably by nylon they mean glass?

Also what is the best thing to paint your quiver tips white with so they don't fade to that horrible yellow colour over time? Modelling type enamel paints seem to do this more than any other.

DON'T do what I did and use typex - looks horrid - dries lumpy and flakes - cleaned mine off using my nails but there are still a few bits on them

Fibre glass is softer and easier to bend than carbon even though the two may have the same TC. It's always difficult to suggest to some one what strength TC to have, but a range of say 1oz - 3ozs fibre glass isn't bad for chub. If the river is pushing then maybe a carbon one of 2ozs or 3 ozs. At the extreme end you could have a carbon 4 or 5, but I reckon these are more for long range method feeder fishing than anything.

In the end, it's up to you.

Match pot for car paint, the ones used for painting out scratches. You may need a primer first. Same stuff but not in a match pot.

I painted the tips of my barbel rods with radiator enamel in the Summer and they still look good. A small tin doesn't cost a lot in B & Q

White acrylic spray paint. Source from a car shop or if your lucky one of those cheapo stalls in a market.
