When trotting for roach I have found that there is no right or wrong way to hold back and slow the float for best presentation. Obviously it depends on depth of swim, rate of flow, etc, etc. Some days the roach want the float slowed right down but other days the best presentation is just let the float go with the flow in similar swims and weather conditions. It would be interesting to know the thoughts and opinions of others?

Most odd really, most good catches of roach for me have been at current speed, probably slightly slower due to friction of rings, spool etc.

I enjoyed the two roach articles.
As to the small river mentioned above I am feeling a bit jealous and a bit nostalgic. Its not hard to know where that is. I was once a member before moving . It was a magical place and although popular there were always spaces to fish some 25 yrs ago. I have never caught big roach in the numbers again like I did there.
