I am usually on a stand at the Northern Angling Show in Manchester, possibly on one at the Big One next year either at Farnborough or I presume the Stafford Showground. Some exhibitors will do one venue or the other due to costs such as hiring a space for the weekend and travelling costs ,so it may be wise to wait until nearer the dates to see which companies are showing at which show,
As for the named anglers they are usually at both venues plus some do the Northern Angling show as well.
There is a tackle show on at Evesham this coming bank holiday.

All of the Angling shows that Ive been to are a mixture of all the Angling disciplines; Match fishing, Specialist Angling, Carp fishing, Trout & salmon fishing, Lure fishing, sea fishing, films and demonstrations and sometimes Angling holidays.

There is usually some real bargains to be had as well so take some spare cash.

As Keith has said they are a mix of disciplines.
Some good talks are also given by top anglers , match, carp, specimen also displays on various methods.
If you are buying ,shop around because like everything there can be varying prices for same item.
Daiwas stand had " show prices" that were dearer than the shop.
I mentioned this to one of the top Daiwa managers I know, he said the " show price" was to get people interested ,then they knock a lot off to just below shop price so the customer thinks they are getting a bargain.
Some main brands only show and don't sell. A lot of the countries main tackle shops normally have a stand at the shows.

Yeah the first episode was good. Bob hooked a sea trout on a spinner! I'm much happier about the show now.

I believe that a new series of Mortimer and Whitehouse is being filmed.

I really quite like the show which is more about friendship than fishing, like the locations and the accommodations and the sidetracks. I just wish somebody would teach Bob to cast properly and not finishing up by hanging on to the end of the rod butt!

You would have thought by now he knew how to play a fish. Then again that may be the attraction for the non angling public. A right twit who acts like a 2 year old on speed.

How many of us on here can relate to them ?
Putting the world to rights ,reminiscing of things we did etc. ?
When I go with one of my friends who I have known since maternity ward 67 years ago,we have a little match between ourselves, and chat about various things, who has passed away, not seen so and so for some time , getting new tackle, He waits for me to buy new and buys my tackle that's being replaced,
Upto now I don't " need" anything new,
2 years ago his wife said he wasn't to go in a tackle shop with me again.
He came out nearly £800 lighter ?.
I didn't need anything that time .

I am sat at home now thinking of why I should not go to the tackle shop. I've avoided the visit because I deemed it too much trouble.
I have never visited a trade show. I get what I need from the local tackle shop. By visiting my local shop year-round I always get a touch of discount.
The only tackle company my shop does not deal with is Shimano they insist you carry at least 10 grand worth of stock. At least it was 10 grand 5 years ago, it may well have gone up now.

6 am Mick. been going there since Richard Vaughan shut his shop at Handsworth. I know Aston Park stock everything and it's very popular. I like 6 am more, perhaps because I have always gone there.

Over the years I have been to several angling shows plus questions and answers at a working men's club. guests like Ian Heaps, **** Cleg, Tom Pickering and others. The Q and As at the club was far better than any angling show, which to me are not my cup of tea.
The shows I have been to have been mostly non-events as far as I was concerned.

Heard a report that the Northern Angling show this weekend is mainly carp orientated. No major brands there ,and Vale Royal Angling Centre was more geared up to carp.
It was like this when it first started some years ago and possibly going back to that .
A couple of years ago I came up from Oxford to help on one of the trade stands ,
All the major brands were there, Shimano, Maver,,MAP, Matrix, Daiwa,Guru and I think Preston Innovations .
All selling both coarse and specimen tackle
