Rare Roller back Coxon Aerial reel, probably one of the most sought after Aerials for the collector
, built 1905-1928, with a model reference 4108A-T3, this is the rarer 4 ½” diameter model, with ebonite drum front plate stamped “Patent”,
twin original turned horn handles, 6 spoke drum with tension regulator, this is a wide drum model measuring 1 ½” across drum, no damage, fractures or breaks,
the mahogany backplate is factory fitted with 4 recessed brass rollers, all original screws, brass star back with optional check button to internal copper calliper check,
the reel runs, smooth, straight and well, a complete original example with no damage, alterations or replacement parts, one of the best I’ve seen in years,
the roller Coxon was designed to be used with heavier lines, mainly for salmon fishing, and without removing the drum the roller back system could easily be missed
. Note to collectors, always remove the drum!
