A rarely seen Hardy Natal Surf 12’ three piece Palakona cane surf rod, built 1912 -1948, it came in 2 sizes, 10’6 and 12’ , this rod number E24799 dating it to 1932, despite the length of production period few of these ever turn up.
Note, Hardy also produced a Natal surf reel and we have listed one of these too, see our other listinmg, nibe to pair them up?
Hand built heavy Palakona cane with broad intermediate crimson whippings, heavy lined guides, screw lock bronze ferrule with turned wood stoppers, 28” cork handle with ex heavy brass screw reel fittings and butt cap finished off with a red rubber button
Bit of a monster rod, its been rebuilt some time ago but shows black lines on some cane joint edges, so perhaps better for display although it can be used, comes with fitted cloth bag.
