    The white flag goes back a lot further than most people would believe.

    Livvy, the Roman historian, wrote of it being used in the Second Punic Wars and another, Tacitus also wrote about the white flag in the Second Battle of Cremona in 69 A.D, when the Vitellians surrendered . . . . .
