Abrasion resistance: Frankly we didn’t believe that it was possible to make such a low memory, limp and pliable line which would give equal, let alone significantly greater, abrasion resistance than our competitors. We have found in tests that Pro Gold can actually be as much as 100 times more abrasion resistant than some competitors lines whose main feature is claimed to be abrasion resistance.


Pale green, supple and smooth
Soft & supple: The ideal line for trouble-free fixed spool use. None of the springiness and coiling that is associated with lines which have only a fraction of the abrasion resistance qualities of this outstanding line. The super smooth finish on this line means that casts will be further and quieter due to reduced friction.

High strength: Very high knot strength and shock absorbency to cope with fish lunging beneath the rod tip. Precise, uniform diameter to give a consistently reliable line.

Consistency: Is one of the most important features to consider when choosing a line. We have found no other line with comparable consistency in terms of diameter, breaking strain and abrasion resistance.

Harmful rays: Pro Gold comes to you boxed, without even a viewing slot, to ensure that it is not subjected to harmful rays before you even make your purchase. To greatly extend the life of any line it should be kept in a dark, cool atmosphere, whenever possible when you are not fishing.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

A modern co-polymer mono from GLT that I’ve used on and off over the years and have great faith in. It is consistently reliable, but what I like about it best of all is its suppleness and lack of memory. I have never used any other mono that lies so straight and supple, without those annoying coils that spill off a full spool.

I personally prefer clear lines but the pale, low visibility green of Pro Gold is the next best thing. Like most monos these days the strength is somewhat understated.
