Garbolino-backed match star Grant Albutt hit on a novel idea to win the final round of the UK Angling Championships fished at Barston Lakes, Solihull.
2010 champion Grant had no chance of retaining his title going into the last match of the series so he decided to go all out for a win, fishing liquidised boilies packed inside a method feeder with an 8mm Bait Tech shellfish boilie on the hook.
Grant had seen on previous matches that winning anglers at the venue fished boilies on the hook with catapulted boilies as feed but decided on his novel ‘powdered boilie’ mix to keep a tight area to draw fish into.
With fish to 15lbs in his 108-0-0 match winning total the method obviously worked and a winner’s cheque of £1000 also helped the liquidity of his bank account.
