Firstly I would like to get the bad news out of the way.Unfortunately restrictions regarding foot and mouth disease have beenRe-imposed at Lower Brompton Farm, which prevents access to our RiverSevern stretch at Lower Brompton, and restricts our fishing to fourfields downstream of the Atcham car park. Fortunately our member onlystretches on the River tern side are not affected.

On to more positive matters, Woodside Pool and the Daisybankstretch of the River Dane are now open to our members, these arewaters closed previously due to foot and mouth precautions. Also I amable to report the opening of Village Pool, which had been closed fortwo weeks due to low oxygen levels in the water.

Members are asked to be sparing with the amounts of bait used onwaters, especially small waters.

Whilst Village Pool was closed, officials took the opportunity toundertake some remedial work to pegs and the over wooding of thebanks, many thanks to them for their blood, sweat and tears.

During the period of closure, Village Pool was being aerated byequipment loaned to the Club by the Environment Agency. However, thisequipment needs to be manned 24 hour a day, something which is a dragfor the few volunteers who agree to help. In order to spread the loadamongst the membership, members are asked to assist with this task.If you can spare, or make, some time to help with this most importanttask please give Sarah Peers a ring on 574248. The Club now has acaravan to make machine minding more confortable.

On the fishing scene Whitley Pool specialist Alan Pinningtonpulled an impressive double double, landing two tench in succession, both over the magical 10lb figure. His first was carefully weighed at10lb-2-0, and his second just topped this by pulling Alan’s scalesdown to 10lb-4-0. Besides this remarkable duo, during the samesession he landed four koi carp, three ghost carp, seven uncolouredgoldfish, eleven other tench and a couple of crucians. He claims thathe was using bread punch on the hook, unfortunately Alan had thattwinkle in his eye known to all of us who ask him what bait he isusing.

Sue Jupp has again proved that patience is always rewarded onSpring Pool. Having spent three hours on the water with just one biteresulting in a golden orfe of three pound, it would of been temptingto move over to Spring Pool, where the action is a fish a chuck. However, Sue stuck it out and was eventually rewarded with a stringof seven silver orfe up to four pound, a surprise bream of threepound and an unstoppable fish likely to have been a catfish. Most ofSue’s fish were tempted by small cubes of luncheon meat.

Water levels on Village Pool, Whitley Pool and Lymmvale havedropped over the last two weeks, hopefully they will drop just enoughto bring some of the submerged pegs into use. They will need to dropanother 18 inch to 2 foot in order for this to happen.

Water Keeper Phil Wain reports that Founders Pool has continued toproduce good carp, although action has been a little slow on BelmontPool, perhaps due to the pressure of fishing due to its popularity. No doubt it will bounce back to form over the next few days.

A recent bailiff’s meeting will result in a forthcoming bailiffingblitz, hooks will be checked for barbs, bags and bivvies will bechecked for tin cans, etc., etc. Bailiffs have been instructed to bevery thorough in their checks.
