The otter is thriving in Yorkshire and the north-east along with lots of other endangered wildlife, according to a new report just published by the Environment Agency.

The report, Focus on Biodiversity, reveals how otters are flourishing throughout Yorkshire and Northumbria and it also tells how salmon, sea trout, water voles and freshwater mussels are prospering in Northumbrian rivers.

Other reports of otter sightings in various other areas of the country are suggesting that otters are very much on the increase. Only last week myself and Dave Colclough watched a pair of otters swim past as we fished the river Dove.
