DDHE Say

Last year, DD Home Entertainment broke all the records with its best-selling ‘THE ASHES: THE GREATEST SERIES’ celebrating England’s 2005 victory over the Australians! The DVD went on to sell over 600,000 copies and break all the sales records for a sports DVD.

Now, on May 8th, DD Home Entertainment is following up its success with two new and totally unique cricket DVDs – ‘LORD’S IN THE 21st CENTURY’ and ‘HIDDEN ASHES’.

‘HIDDEN ASHES’ promises to show you England’s sensational 2005 Ashes victory over the Aussies as you’ve never seen it before! This glorious new production for Channel 5 chronicles the action using only unbroadcast and previously unseen footage from alternative cameras and camera angles! There’s plenty of delicious slow motion and close up action to savour!

You can re-live in giant close-up the joy and despair of the players as the series takes its many twists and turns; sit in the stand with the fans at Old Trafford as England come up agonisingly short in the Third Test; see the utter bemusement of the England players as Ricky Ponting explodes at Trent Bridge after being run out; wince as Kevin Pietersen is hit by a 93-mph bullet from Brett Lee at The Oval; and feel the genuine warmth that emerges between the teams as this fabulous series unfolds.

Lord’s Cricket Ground is the ‘home of cricket’. Every cricketer dreams of playing there. Steeped in tradition, its Long Room and Museum are wonderful repositories of cricket history. Made with unprecedented access, ‘LORD’S IN THE 21ST CENTURY’ takes you inside the hallowed cricket institution as never before, celebrating the great traditions of Lord’s, the MCC and cricket while looking at the new developments which ensure that Lord’s will continue to be regarded as world-class, as well as world-famous, in the future.

Celebrities and players alike give their views on Lord’s, from Ian Botham, Shane Warne and Brian Lara to Michael Palin and Barry Norman. The viewer is invited behind the scenes with players, coaches, the groundsman, Mick Hunt, and even the resident artist, Karen Neale, to discover what makes Lord’s so unique. The DVD also follows the MCC touring sides around the world and the MCC women’s team as they spread the cricket message. …

Also available from DD Home Entertainment is ‘ASHES FEVER’.

LORD’S IN THE 21ST CENTURY and HIDDEN ASHES will be available in all good DVD retailers from Monday May 8th price £ 14.99 for the former and £ 12.99 for the latter, or direct from DD Home Entertainment, Unit 1, Pool Bank Business Park, High Street, Tarvin, Chester, CH3 8JH; please add £ 1.80 towards postage & packing or for title or £ 2.75 for both. FISHINGmagic VERDICT on ‘Hidden Ashes’

Most anglers are sports fanatics and here we are, right in the middle of a feast of sport; world cup football, test cricket, Wimbledon coming up, and the start of a new coarse fishing season.

None of us are likely to forget the cricket last year when we won the Ashes from the Aussies. The television coverage was brilliant, but we only see a fraction of the footage that gets taken with the multiple cameras at the time. Much of it we saw in the DVD’s, ‘The Ashes – the greatest series’, but it was still only part of the full story.

If you want to see the rest of the story then this ‘Hidden Ashes’ is for you. These are the shots that didn’t make it to the TV screens, the unusual, quirky camera angle shots, close-ups that make it all the more real. I loved it for the photography, let alone the cricket interest.

If you’re a cricket or a photography fan then shell out that £ 12.99 and get a copy; it’s money well spent.
