Whether you’re after blue marlin in the Pacific Ocean or you simply enjoy a quiet weekend’s cast in the local river, every keen fisherman and woman knows success is all about patience and having the best possible kit.  That’s where the new dedicated Sports Sunglasses Range from Polaroid Eyewear comes in! Featuring the latest UltraSight™ polarized lenses and manufactured using Polaroid’s unique Thermofusion™ technology, these sunglasses give 100% UV protection – so no problem if your patient wait means sitting in the sunshine for a few hours –  and precision glare-free vision across the whole lens giving you the ability to see below the water line to make that perfect catch….

Special fishing features for 2010
Working with feedback from professional sports teams around the world, Polaroid has introduced a host of new features for the 2010 Sports Collection.  For sports and recreational fishing, these include:

  • new wraparound, super-light but tough frames with all-day comfort features including soft rubber nose grips and arm tips
  • detachable headband so no danger of losing your sunglasses in the water
  • semi rimless styles with deep lenses for all round visual clarity
  • complete range of shatter-proof, coloured and interchangeable lenses including grey or brown polarized lenses with amber and clear non-polarized lenses – to suit all ambient light and weather conditions out on the water or the riverbank
  • full frames with side shields to prevent light penetration.

“This is the most comprehensive sports sunglasses range ever from Polaroid and we’ve developed some features especially for sports and recreational fishing where you can spend long periods out in the sun,” said Rebecca Harwood Lincoln, Sales Manager UK & Ireland for Polaroid Eyewear.  “Protecting our eyes from UV exposure is just as important as protecting our skin so our new polarized UltraSight lenses are perfect for fishing as they give complete UV protection and clear, glare-free vision. Combined with our new interchangeable and coloured lens options this now means you can get the best clarity of vision whatever light conditions or weather conditions you are out in. With Polaroid Sports Sunglasses you really do get that all-important edge when it comes to outwitting that elusive trout, carp or your own favourite adversary!”

The polarized lenses are particularly good for driving and travelling generally too giving restful, glare-free vision, so you arrive at your destination – be it the weekend fishing club or an ocean fishing competition in the Caribbean! – calm, collected and ready to put all your energy into fishing!

The best way to ensure your eyes have full protection from sunlight is to choose genuine Polaroid. There are so many copies on the market, both cheap and expensive, stating that their polarized glasses protect your eyes from every eye ailment known to man, you can easily fall into the trap of buying something that, at the very least, offers little or no protection at all. And as for being able to see through the surface of waters to spot fish then genuine Polaroid are in a class of their own.

The new 2010 range have some attractive styles and the ones I’ve tried, from the ‘Fishing’ range, the Bamboo P7027B, are very comfortable and have the wrap-around style that almost eliminates light leaking in from the sides. They retail at £49.99.
