** Realistic Reviews by Real Anglers**

1st Contact is the new rig component range from Richworth and includes most of the things you need to make up an end rig for carp fishing, including rig foam, beads, cork balls, PVA products, braid, and lots of other bits and pieces.

The Impaler hooks in the range are available in barbed and barbless and have an in-turned point for maximum penetration. They have a medium shank and are chemically sharpened.

There isn’t a great deal I can say about them other than that since I’ve used them I’ve found them to be strong and reliable and they certainly do the job as intended. In that respect they are not much different to many of the hooks I’ve used from other manufacturers that have been made to this same excellent specification.

Except perhaps in one respect, in that every one I’ve inspected has had the eye closed properly to the shank, there being no line-fraying gap that can have disastrous consequences when playing a big fish.

I always check my hooks for this fault and close the gap in those hooks that have one with a pair of pliers. But it is nice to find it hasn’t so far been necessary on these Impaler hooks.

Perhaps Richworth have better quality control.

So yes, they are good, reliable hooks, and they are available in just three sizes, 4, 6, and 8.
