PAPERCOURT

The big mirror known as Shoulders was very badly damaged some seasons ago when her tail was almost totally chopped off by the rescue boat used by the sailing club on the Papercourt venue. In an attempt to save the fish she was treated and placed in the adjacent stock pond where she would have the chance to recover away from angling pressure.

‘Shoulders’ goes home

Recover she did and as you can see the tail, whilst not complete, has healed superbly well and the fish is in absolutely pristine condition. The fish was captured from the stock pond by Papercourt Head Bailiff, Mark Fenner, who is pictured here returning the fish shortly after capture.

As well as healing up Shoulders also gained a little weight in the stock pond and was caught by Mark at a weight of 33lb 8oz. It is understood that she has subsequently been caught off the shallows of the main lake at the same weight.

A marvellous old warrior of a fish now back in her rightful home where she will doubtless bring pleasure to many, many anglers.
