The World Carp Classic 2006, the biggest and most prestigious tournament in the history of carp angling, is now over! It took place on the magnificent French Lac D’Orient and like never before, the bar was raised to an entirely new level.

The tournament was always going to be a real test for the competitors, and thus it proved. Going into the last day it was still very much anyone’s guess who would come away with the win.

An exciting climax over the last 12 hours of the tournament provided a very fitting finale, with the new WCC record fish being banked of 51lb 12oz, and the pairing of Mariusz Ciach & Jaroslaw Plochocki from Poland sweeping into a last night lead which was ultimately to prove unassailable.
