My dad told me when wading in the water moo like a cow or woof like a dog depending on the river. It doesn't really help the fishing but it sure stops passers by from talking to you.

Two basic pieces of advice that stuck.
1. Do not ignore your own margin.
2. Don't overdo groundbait or loose feed. You can put it in, but taking it out is a little tougher!!!

There is also the thermocline effect to take into account.
There is and always tilts to the windward bank in the summer when it forms, bring the warmer and more oxygenated water to that bank.
Conversely it brings the upwelling of very poorly oxygenated and cold water on the leeward bank.

My school motto was "Do different" and that can work in fishing too - dont always follow the crowd.

That is another good one.
I read in a mag an article where the fella said that he always tries something outrageous on a rod out to the side. And often it gets good results.
