I've just taken delivery of some of these. Two sets of the lignum sticks, the ones with the shoulders. 4 no 4 up to 14 no 4. They look fantastic (if you love new floats :)) and seem well made. Can't wait to get out and try them out now.

Have any of you got any experience of these? Do you rate them?

I have to be honest, my personal choice is for Drake stick floats but I do have and have used Dave Harrell's. They're perfectly fine. Good for backshotting.

Just such a choice available nowadays, isn't there?

Probably not very helpful I know.

I would not use them, try some split shot on them and find out if there accurate? I bought a load and the shot loadings are way out, sorry.

Could be you got a bad batch or something? I've honestly never had that problem with them. Once bought some Drennans that had that problem.

I shall hopefully find out this weekend, time permitting. I'm not too fussed if the shotting capacity is a bit out as I make my rigs up on the bank anyway and tend to start off with less than the stated weight then increase.

Dorsetandchub - I've been looking at Drake, I fancy some of their sliders

I took a punt on the Sensitip Wagglers last year, nowhere I know of within 50 miles stocks them. I'm pleased I did, they are excellent.

Hi Lads
The lignums that I purchased were not lignum or anything like a lignum stem.
Lignum sticks as we know are part self cocking, the DHs floated like a light cane stem stick.

I ordered mine online from Mal Storey, they were reasonably priced and delivered quickly. £11.94 for 6 floats I don't think is too bad. Can see myself buying more.

Well these ones certainly feel quite weighty, should be alright for casting further distances. I'll see how they do in the water.

Tinca,

I really rate Drake floats. Excellent quality, well priced and tough / reliable. :)

Best of luck. Hope they work out for you.

Ok Sam my mistake :)

Regarding the sticks

The question is, was it just a bad batch ?

I must admit I use them a lot.
I know floats often do not take the weight marked but these are rarely far from the mark, they are tough reliable floats and are in my opinion excellent and I find it difficult to fault them.

Altogether well designed and well made!
