ive just been looking in my new book (thanks matt) and im planning on using some bird seed in prebaiting.
in this book it says all beans peas and nuts must be soaked ....
does this apply to birdseed?
this birdseed has no nuts in, but little grains, sunflower seeds etc!
any help would be great thanks!

Christian. Soak for 8 hours and boil for 20 min. Then leave for a few days.

A good site is CC Moores If you scroll down the left there is a Particle Preparation link.

The longer ypu soak the less you have to boil. But as a rule yes. leaving for a few days lets the particles start to ferment which adds to the flavour but is not essential.

I would soak for 24hrs then boil for 20 mins, baby burcos are best you can put the seeds into your girlfriends tights this makes them easier to get out again split them up into 1k bags and freeze.
the sunflower seeds might float so when soak pick them out and save ,carp love taking these off the top !

thanks guys,
i was going to use them for prebaiting a lake tomorrow but i guess not!
has anyone used bird seed before and if so with what results?
i would imagine it would keep the carp grubbing about in the swim for a while!

Add corn and maize even chopped tiger nuts. Spod out with swimstim and trout pellets and chopped boilies added gives of a cloud and adds extra pulling power and alternative hook bait options.

No preparation needed whatsoever, just spod a good load out whilst only just been wetted enough for it sink. Leave for a good 10 hours then top up with the same. Give it a few more hours then get in there with the hook bait.

Now comes the Crux, when you catch a 15 it will look like a 25, if you get anything at 20+ it will look like a 30. Job Done eh?
