An interesting email followed by many phone conversations saw Richard, our CEO hopping on a plane to Belfast. A lifelong game fisherman had decided to part with his collection of 101 Hardy rods and reels.

This was no ordinary collection, as if 101 is, these are all brand new old stock Hardy rods and reels from the 2000 era.

The story begins in Belfast, Ireland. J Braddell, Gunmakers and fishing tackle suppliers, latterly of North Street, were established in 1811. Sadly, they finally closed their doors in 2014 after a fire badly damaged the building, ending a remarkable 200-year trading history. Our client, an angler and regular customer of Braddell, purchased the rods and reels from them over many years. Why? Because he loved Hardy tackle and because he could. The time had come to release the collection to be loved and fished as was its original purpose. TT had to buy them all.

There are 66 stunning Hardy Sovereign and MLA black and Gold Limited Edition reels plus spare spools. All boxed, all new. Now is the time to buy a piece of Alnwick engineering. The MLA reels are anodised meaning they are suited to both fresh and saltwater fly fishing.

A follow up blog will appear shortly featuring the rods. There are Hardy Classic Smugglers, including a rare Smuggler Spin, plus Hardy Elite Trout and Elite Salmon fly rods. Top of the range in their day, these are still believed by many to be unsurpassed in quality and design.

A smattering of Hardy accessories from the same era, leather wallets, rod tubes and other items will be listed too. Check out the TT website daily for new listings from this timewarp collection. Remember, only cheap tackle is expensive, so buy the best, do it once and do it right.
