Bait boat echo problem

A lad down at my lake is having a problem with his bait boat. I know nothing about these so I got him to talk into the recording part of my phone with whats wrong with it and said I would ask on here to see if anyone knows what the problem might be. This is what he say's...

"Name, Microcat. Whats happing is when everything is fully charged you send the boat out it starts off ok andthena short while the sonarreads dead flat, then it will read about2ft6-2ft8 no matter where you are. Its picking up weed, gravel, silt fish etc but not the depth, just going flat most of the time".

Anyone know what the problem might be I can pass on?

its faulty ,get it checked if new take it back and kick up hell ....good luck.

I dont know the bloke that well cakey. Just asking on here for him. Dont know if he would be to keen to hand it over to me........ it might end up on ebay if he did give it to me/forum/smilies/big_smile_smiley.gif
