The title was prompted by a conversation I had with two of my oldest angling friends this past week. Both of them with over fifty years of successful angling behind them.
The question was put to me that any time during the last sixty years was there a time when I harboured a lust for a record Pike? When I replied not really, they seemed surprised, so I made the distinction between a record fish and a lottery win. Maintaining that had I become fixated with record fish I would have set myself an almost impossible target that was guaranteed to sour my love of the sport. I then said that I was more than happy catching fish that were considered ''big'' by national standards.
I'd be interested to hear your views on this topic fella's, on any species.
