no real way to find that out apart from recasting occassionally, that was the reason boiled (boilies were introduced), if the water contains a large head of small fish you would be better with a harder bait, luchean meat can however be an excellent stalking bait when using a float in the margins and chasing bubblers, then again you can get lucheon meat boilies or make your own
