Erm, excuse me I wasn't bragging, and I did delete the location. The area is a well known stretch of the river and was already swarming with eastern Europeans and other people roach fishing. Anyone who sees the photo and knows the area will quite easily put the two together. I caught a 28pounder near to there, some 10 years ago, and I put the pic up on here too, the river was not infested with pike floats afterwards either, and 2 weeks later I caught her again using the same bait. If you don't like seeing people enjoying themselves catching specimen fish of a lifetime then I think you are on the wrong forum.

Chris.

I know the stretch inside out and have fished it for years.
No one would recognise the area if you'd scribbled out the background or cut the pic down.
If the area's plagued with foreigners already then thank's to you it'll be even more plagued now.
By the way, I like to see peoples catches and pic's of fish but not the way you've done it !

I hardly think one picture will cause a plague of eastern Europeans to flood the river and empty it. They are doing that all by themselves on lots of waters in this country. So if you are quite finished slagging me off, wind it in and get a life.

No, you wind it in...and I have got a life.

I'm not the only person who think's your out of order on this thread. The fact that you deleted the location shows that you realised you were being stupid.

Do you pull people up on other threads too about where they say they are fishing? Like the carp guys or people catching nice chub on various rivers up and down the country. Do you write to the tv presenters doing a show on fishing the Severn or a reservoir somewhere telling them to stop telling their audience where they are what they are catching and by what methods. Do you tell tackle shops to refrain from giving out advice on where to go fishing? I am sorry but I treat everyone on here with the same intellect, and respect as I would expect to be treated myself. I don't go around saying don't tell him or them about anywhere because they WILL over fish the place or take the fish out. I have given several people on here pointers on where to fish in any area I have fished before, and I am not ashamed to help fellow anglers, if we all behaved so negatively to each other NO ONE would fish. I really don't care if you don't like my picture, and if you haven't noticed, I wasn't the one holding the camera, and I am not going to go out and buy photo editing soft ware just to appease a minority.People like you drain the happiness out of others, are you a politician by any chance??

Chris, the Ribble is not like other waters. Pike are not like other fish.

There is no water I know of that's a snaggy as the Ribble and any novice who goes out to fish for pike ther will not know how to fish it safely. Leave a baited trace in the river and a pike WILL swallow it and it WILL die.

A carp or a barbel can stand having a hook in its lip until it rusts away but a pike, stitched up by treble hooks will die every time. It's not just a case of keeping the information away from poachers, beginners at pike fishing have to be taught before they know what's safe for the fish, that's why the Pike Angler's Club are putting a lot of their resources into coaching.

What's more the river has precious few pike of any size, let alone big ones.

If you had posted this thread on one of the specialist pike forums then you would have been utterly slated for doing so, you've got off lightly here.
