Eyes on small hooks

I agree with Graham and Cakey, the hook eye should be more eliptical, although maybe not as much as on his diagram.

I do wonder though if an alternative shape might not affect the behaviour of the hook?

Cakey, that is one solution that would work you are right but my concern is that these hook manufacturers pay no attention to what the angler needs and this isborn outby the fact that they have never addressed this longstandingproblem and yet it is such an easy one to solve. You would have thought a man like Peter Drennan, reputedly an angler himself, would have come across this problem himself or at least been made aware of this by his many contacts in the world of angling.
