I'm fascinated to read of stockings to Clow Beck. I thought I recognised the name but couldn't work out why. On investigating it, I found that Clow Beck is what I would have mistakenly known as Brettanby Beck, which I occasionally fished as a kid.
Back then it was home to all sorts. Grayling, trout, chub, perch, dace, the odd roach and, much more surprisingly, bream. It also saw massive elver runs, the like of which I've never seen since. It's not a million miles away from my current home but I'm not aware of anywhere it can be fished these days. I'm going to have to find out. I may even resort to knocking on doors as I did as a kid. I love fishing such small becks.
