I'm a bit of a creature of habit and tend to use a Kamasan B983 for just about everything, today I found its limits when taking low double figure carp off the surface using hair rigged dog biscuits. On more than one occasion the hook straightened when hooking a bigger fish.
What's out there that's stronger but still lightweight for this type of fishing?
I would just go with a Drennan super specialist hooks.
You mentioned your floater fishing. If your worried about the fish seeing the hook then glue it on top of the dog biscuit and glue a split shot thats heavier in the base of the biscuit. Get the balance right and the biscuit should flip over to float hook side up. Then you can use the heaviest hook you like because they will never see it.
