I think you're missing the point. Rik did give some good advice. The 3 rods that were in question were all different and to be perfectly honest 2 of them would be almost impossible to use by the majority of carpers for the situation they were designed for (i.e. full compression, long casting)and probably, the fishing the guy was doing.
Rik pointed out that trying before buying is essential and that one shouldn't jump on the bandwagon to have the latest model used by X or Y top carper. If all the poster wanted was a list of rods then he could have looked in any monthly mags' advertising sections. If he wanted some proper advice on which rod has been used by posters in a given situation then he should have expanded on Riks post.
