Thanks for your input Nigel.

We are all of us different in many ways and often that is good. Imagine if there were no Chinese, Indian, French, Italian or Traditional English resturants in this country. If you walk into an Indian restuarant, does it mean that you have to be an Indian to get in?

Of course it doesn't.

In my life I have done business and socialised with:

Christians both Catholic, Protestant and Greek Orthodox, Jews both reformed and orthodox, Moslems both Sunni and Shiite, Hindus, Seihks, Bhuddists, Zulus, Xhosas, Ndebele, Sothos etc etc ad infinitum.

Some of them have been nice people, some of them have been sh**houses.

But they have all been Homo sapiens.

All that should be said in the case of this trout fishing weekend is "All are welcome".

I would be delighted to be there to help anyone.

Ron, I am with you. It does seem a shame to encourage wider interest on one hand yet limit that interest on the other.

Take your point on what I call institutionalised discrimination, e.g. forms/officials that ask male, female, origins, race blar, blar, blar. Always answer them with this comment ??Member of one race, the Human Race!? Religion ?Angler.? One official pillock said to me ?that?s not a recognised religion!? ?It is to me and 4 million other people in the UK!?

Now I am in full agreement Phil.

The b*****cks we get on government forms is certainly just another form of insitutionalised racism and gender discrimination.

This was the point made on the radio this morning ,in that the more you emphasis peoples differences the greater chance of isolating them within their minority communities and hence never intergrate them.

It was a discussion on the Today programme at about 8.45 PM between Melanie Phillips, who writes for the Times, and and an asian chap whose name I didn't recognise.

Worth a listen.

Look understand this you CANNOT BE ENGLISH ANYMORE according to the 5yearly census form , you can be SCOTTISH , IRISH, WELSH. or BRITISH. Good old English don't get a look in.And with the world cup coming up- you CAN protest about about what you want quite legally it seems. You can fly a flag of any nation it seems as long as its not a british flag in an area which is predominately unbritish.Seems its racist. But you cannot wear a football shirt in northampton if its an ENGLISH shirt and you're a taxi driver in-case you offend the passenger and it could turn physical. So the council is saying. The london black cabs can do it,thats o.k then. I mean there aren't many people there who aren't british are there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I wonder what they would do if you were an asian driver and he wore his teams shirt? nothing i bet, in-case they get done for racism.

Are you still perplexed Ron?

I think you might just be stressed that?s all!
Get along ?to toys are us?, buy yourself a space hopper and have yourself a bouncing session!
I can tell you that it is somewhat similar to having a bouncing session with a big fat Yorkshire lass, and hanging on to her lugholes instead of the space hoppers handles!

I can not see why they need separate days its not like its a contact sport. A persons build does not matter when it comes to angling.

When i use to go to the surfcasting days there was a 15 year old lad who was no more than 5 1/2 feet tall but could cast over 260 yards consistently as he had the skills needed.

They should be made to have the open days for everybody regardless of age , sex or religious background.

Might be worth giving the equality people a ring and state that you feel you are being discriminated against. I wonder if they will do anything or will it be the usual outcome in that white males can not be discriminated against because we have become superfluous.

Maybe the reason they are under-represented in all these different things like angling etc.is because plainly and simply they just DON'T WANT to do them

It's the same the way the government say "We must have more (for instance)policemen / firemen from ethnic minority groups" If they DONT WANT to be policemen you can't force them to be .....
