Stu,
When I lived there I caught a few carp and tench around Maidenhead and around Wraysbury. I never caught any bream, how things change. I caught chub to 5lb 2oz, roach to 2lb 4oz and barbel to 9lb 12oz. These were all very good fish in those days. There were loads of roach and chub around and a fair number of barbel. I wonder if the bream weren't around then. I fished around Windsor and Marlow and never saw any. As you say the floods probably shoaled them up but I think the odd one would have been caught if they had been around then. The Jubilee river sounds great. I wish it had been around when I lived there. I hope the local anglers get a lot of pleasure from it.

As I live near this new river I wondered if anyone knows when it will be available for fishing? I live 200 yards from the river, haven't fished for about 10 years but am getting the bug again! I could well be interested in specialising in this streatch. Any thoughts Rich...

p.s. this is my first post on hear so "hi" everybody...

The Thames is (and i keep on saying this -sorry) the best all round fishery we have.I fish it now to the exclusion of all other rivers. It takes time, you have to fish different stretches for different species and different stretches for big fish than lots of fish and visa versa. You need to fish into dark and this excludes many stretches if you stick to the archaic rules some clubs stick to.Why fish for twitchy Barbel on the Kennet when you could go for a superb probably uncaught Thames Barbel. The Chub fishing is out of this world and no they don't all live at Medley. The Roach and Dace fishing on the stick is staggering on some stretches and predator sport is brilliant. The Bream fishing is as good as it has ever been with doubles showing up and six seven and eight pound fish the norm.I have great long stretches to myself every time I go and cannot for the life of me understand people putting up with shoulder to shoulder stuff on some rivers when for the sake of a little homework you could be enjoying fishing of an unsurpassed quality.
