You'll catch on the Lower Severn during the day Paul, especially if there's been a bit of a rise in water levels.
My river best came out of a low river (that's still 15ft on this river mind) this summer at 4:30pm on a burning hot afternoon under clear blue skies.
It really depends on what mood the fish are in, sometimes they feed all through the day, sometimes at night, sometimes both and sometimes you think there's not a fish in the river when conditions otherwise seem OK.
Just go believing you will catch and you probably will.
