well i have only been fishing for 2 weeks now, 1st week was all loach fish, and i know why now, ( poor set-up! ) but anyway, week 2 was better, caught a few carp, and loved it..

i was legering for carp, and liked it better than float fishing, i also found it easier as im blind as a bat and couold never see my float....lol

here are a few images of me, and what we caught, we didnt have time to take many, as being new to it all, i just wanted to get the fish back into the water...lol

This was at Abbey lakes in maidstone, its dead quiet, and is very pretty.

p.s the carp was bigger than it looks, i just didnt have it sitting up..lol
oh and rachael is my partner with her carp she caught....

well ,you had in pictures 1-3 bream ,4) roach ,5) gudgeon in hand 6) gudgeon a dangling ,7) another roach ,8 & 9 ) carp

although as a novice angler ,your not expected to know this i guess but them gudgeon are soft around the mouth (and perch for that matter) ,and it`s not advicable to have them hanging from the hook for more than a few seconds ,just something too keep in mind ,keep on fishing and improving

for identifing the different species this may help

you`ve done well so far ,keep up the good work, good luck on your future angling exploits.

Not a bad start.

Try the top lake (as going from your pis you were fishing the bottom lake) next time as that has the larger carp in it. Meat, bread, corn, pellet all work as do most others on the right day.

Welcome to the wonderfull world of fishing

wow..

thanks everyone, thta link is great, thank you.

i had a carp 3 times the size of that but after 20min's of battle, it came to the top, and as i went to net her,she flipped out, and broke my rod, and line. :(

2 lessons learnt..

1: have the net in the water to start with..

2: dont reel in to much

3: dont use a kingfisher rod to bring in carp... lol

Have the Clutch on the reel set low enough so that the fish can take line when it wants to, especially when they are close to being netted as one last lunge from the fish can result in your Tackle being busted, and there is nothing worse than broken tackle :D
