Well done on the grassie, bigger than I've managed.

All my grass carp have been caught on floating baits. They take the bait very delicately, totally different to commons, often just holding the bait in their lips and swimming off with it before actually swallowing. Keep a close eye on them to time your strike right. Wish I had some local to me.

yes he hit rather lightly, iwas intending for a common to bite, as i have caught them at this spot before. i dont have baitrunners so i loosen my drag up to allow for the baitrunner effect. he hit, just a single hard pull, not hard enough to pull line, then slowly swam off. i picked up the rod and thought i was snagged on a sunken tree limb or a snapping turtle. just dead weight on the line. he didnt fight hard until i netted him then he went nuts. beautiful fish though. hope to catch another. ive caught about 20 commons this past week, but nothing over 10lb 8oz. they were fun though. all on sweetcorn.
