Mite sound a silly question but is the rear drag reels the same stem and finger reach as the front drag reels?

I have a couple of the Shimano Stradic FJ (ST2500FJ) reels and they're just right, easy to reach, nice and compact with a superb drag, a crackin little reel imo.

Take no notice of Ian he's got hands like shovels and a grip like a vice.
Seriously you also need to take into account how thick your rod butt is the thicker the butt dia, the shorter your finger reach will be to the spool edge.
Funny you mention Mitchell 308s I bought a few years ago a (new type) 308X gold spool type for float fishing. Love it for this kind of fishing.Get a Mitchell 308 - a five-year old could reach the spool.
