Penn Progression Beachcaster

Can anyone tell me if the Penn Progression 12ft beachcaster is any good? Or can anyone recommend a good beachcaster for a beginner.

not sure, i only use ron thompson rods as they are cheap.
the most important thing is wheather or not you can "bend" the rod, some rods are meant to be used with big fancy casts and are no good for beginners. have a look in your local tackle shop, and see what they have.

The Ron Thompson G-Force was the other rod I was looking at priced at ?40.I've got a chance to buy the Penn for ?50 instead of ?125.
