Ready made Rigs-Good or Bad?

If I was fishing mainly over gravel or clean bottoms I wouldn't use braid.
I would use mono or flouro.

Over a hard bottom the rig would be 6 to 8 inches and over deeper silt it would be 8 to 10 inches.

The only reason for not doing this would be if there was bad weed or snags and then I would go for a coated braid that would aid the abrasion factor.

Buy the bits and get someone to show you how to make up the rigs, I never have bought a ready-made carp rig and it's not difficult...keep it simple and ignore all of the hype !!

What's it all about if you've got the cash you don't even have to think for your self any more! You can even join a lake full make belive carp in kent etc! Part of the fun is the DIY of carp fishing take that away and what you got a load of noddys with tents. With all the books on the market web sites etc there's no need to spend out on rigs, that are tyed up by someone who couldn't give a toss if it's strong or not. And what cost do you put on fish safty?
